    NYS inspections

Anybody work in a shop in either Nassau or Suffolk?

I am not sure what the inspections consist of, as i am not too familiar with inspections (lived in FL my whole life). I heard it varies depending on the age of the car.
    Thanks.

      I'm in Freeport.
I have one big issue that i don't really know how to fix, and i'm not sure if would pass or not.
Either my brake booster or MC went bad, or i have a hole somewhere along my brake lines where I am not getting any back pressure when i push down the pedal.
but if the pedal is all the way to the floor the brakes do engage.

The car only moves when I'm trying to troubleshoot and figure out the issue. I've posted the issue before, tried all the solutions but still no answer. And I really don't want to have to take it to a shop and spend a small fortune on it.

Start with the master cylinder. Should be cheap and you can probably throw it in yourself. Make sure to bleed system properly. I hope you're not paying insurance on a car you're not driving.

It sounds like either you leaked out most of your brake fluid, or your brake matter cylinder failed. Have you checked the fluid level in the reservoir? Of its low, fill it, and press the pedal while a helper looks for leaks under the car. If the brake fluid level is full, and the pedal sinks to the floor then you need a new master cylinder.

Here's a helpful link of what's checked during an inspection.

You don't have to worry about emissions though.

If you have no brakes, you cant even GET to inspection shop. There is no emissions for E30s so that is not a concern. Its just a vision check that everything in the car is OK.

Thanks Frank. We already offered to help few months ago. OP is trying to fix it himself to avoid shop expenses.

yea they'll kill you at inspection. bleed the system, check the master cylinder. The more you drive around a broken system, the more you'll mess up the lines and other things.

You won't mess up anything further then it already is. If it's a master cylinder problem it won't break anything else, if it's a broken/leaking line you again won't damage anything else. Unless you hit someone that is.
