I have a Euro 1983 533i that I'm having re-sprayed at the moment. While the car's getting new paint I decided to restore the headlights.
The Hella high beam lamps have a yellow globe filter that's around the bulb. From looking at the lamp and the inside of the caps, it doesn't look like there's any way to access the inside of the lamp and past the yellow filter. I'd like to know if there's a way to open it to clean the inside of the lens since there's some wavy, hazy, translucent looking stuff on the inside of the high beam lens that I wanted to try and clean off. Once the bulb's out I can't get past the yellow globe filter with a skinny stick with a swab at the end to clean the inside of the lens.
How rare are these head lights? Does Hella still make the French style high beam lamps?
