broke pressure plate pin on flywheel, usable?

so i accidently dropped my wheel on my bench and it broke one of the pressure plate pins on the flywheel. i was curious if it is still okay to use without the pin and if its going to create a balance issue?
    thanks,
    chris.

You're gonna want to remove the broken pin and install a new one.

Also, if you dropped it so hard it broke one of the dowel pins I wouldn't be surprised if the flywheel is a little warped now. Is this a stock iron joint or an aluminum wheel?

its the stock one, and it was only a couple inches. and would you think i would have to? i started to drill it out. shall i just take it to a machine shop and have them fill it and drill a new hole for a new pin?

Take the flywheel to a machine shop and have them fix it before you destroy the flywheel.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

This. Should have it surfaced anyways.

a couple inch drop broke one of the dowel pins?? craziness.

anyway, if you can't extract the pin yourself, a machine shop (or some of the better mechanic shops) will be able to do it for you.

            Per this thread:

you can buy a new dowel from here:

or get one from the bmw dealership. in any case, don't put it back together with only 2 dowels... you're gonna have a bad time.

No offence bro, but when people ask questions like "can I get away with 2/3 of my dowel pins" experienced people tend to immediately think "this guy has no idea what he's doing".

I figured it wouldn't work, but you never know what you can get away with. Didn't know every one was so quick to assume. There is no lack of mechanical skill. Thought it wouldn't hurt to have a second opinion.

Come on man, you know how the internet is. But yeah, the dowels are super important. Besides, it's less about mechanical skill and more so theory/experience.. and a lot of theory people don't belong anywhere near a car. So don't sweat it.

Also, on the subject of dowels, they're all super important. Some people get away without using bellhousing dowels, but definitely don't skip head dowels. Then you're gonna have a super bad time

got you. Thanks for all the help, I would know better if it was a head, and figured the flywheel was in the same boat. thanks for everything?
