So I recently bought a used cd33 with a barely visible display. Luckily there is a easy fix.
First take off the cover on the reciever
take off the cassette module (4 screws)
The resistors that control the lighting are prone to failure through weak connections. They are numbered 180. There are 2 of them Located behind the faceplate.
Its a pretty small resistor so takes some patience. I put a tiny amount of solder between the connections and laid the resistor in place. Held it down and touched the ends of the resistor with the tip of the solder pen. The picture above shows be pointing to the missing resister...had to be patient and used small tweezers to set the resister place in place...then resolder
And issue fixed!
