I've been extensively searching for an e30 for almost a year now! Not looking for the perfect car, just want a solid daily driver.

How about an '87 325i convertible? It's under your budget, was the DD of another E30 aficionado for quite a while, has no operational issues, and has a H&R/(fresh fronts)Bilstein suspension. AC is even functional! If you drive/fly/bus up here you can certainly drive it back.
