New to this forum but I've searched up on here and can't seem to find what I need. Ive got a 1984 318i with the m10 and the motor is blown. Instead of rebuilding the m10, for the money I'd rather just swap in an m50 (I want some power). I understand most of what I'll need to get it done, but a lot of what I read seems to be very mixed up as what swaps over and people confusing the m10 with the m42. Im just looking for a list of almost anything I will need to do the whole swap. And would it be easiest to just buy a wrecked 92-95 325i and get almost most of the drivetrain out of it? Thanks

M10 engine swap

The swap is fairly straightforward as it is with any other E30. The tricky part with the early model M10 is wiring as you will route most (~7) wires through the C101 and then 3 more through the C104, which is located in the passenger side glovebox area.
The car is also lighter than the 86 and later E30s so it will be a lot of fun with even just the basic M50 swap.Simon
