Was keeping an eye out for an e30 in good condition when the midwest was hit with a nice snow storm. That triggered me to think about getting an AWD e30. A couple weeks later, I found this iX in the Chicago area. I quickly drove down from the Madison WI area and picked her up.
There's a strong emphasis on "the Rough" the day I brought her home. Originally, I had wanted to purchase an e30 in better than good condition but knew that I also wanted a project car.
On the exterior, we had a busted front wheel bearing, dented hood, and some rust, paired with a smoke-residue filled interior, botched front seats and some check lights covered with black tape(assume this touch was added in preparation for an auction).
As usual, the back seats were in near perfect condition
The front seats, however were covered in tape to cover the degraded leather(yes that's candy corn tape you are seeing).
Check panel, tape included. (Fortunate that the coolant light was just a bad sensor, still haven't troubleshot the SRS light)
To remove the smoke residue smell, I pulled out the seats and vacuumed/steam cleaned and eventually used an Ozone Generator. Vacuuming and steam cleaning the carpets brought the carpet back to great condition, but the smell was still present in the car. I can't recommend an Ozonator enough for removing odd smells from your car.
Stay tuned!
