So I got some of the shorter m20 flywheel bolts but I'm reading on a separate post that I need these http://www.ecstuning.com/ES261004/PriceAlert/ pressure plate bolts as well. Are these different from the ones used in my m42 right now? Do you need these specifically like you need the flywheel bolts? Thanks

I don't see why you'd need different pressure plate bolts. The PP bolts on both my M42 and M20 clutches are exactly the same. I think maybe the post is just suggesting that you get NEW bolts rather than re-using the old ones.Stage rally/rallycross e30 build/competition journal

I didnt bother with working out the M20 conversion.
If you stumble around on ebay.de you end up finding things like this http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-E30-E34-E...item231c6b8793
Combined with the pressure plate and sprung clutch disc from a euro m42 without air-con, you end up with an entire assembly that weighs less than the stock dual mass flywheel. (I think it came out at just over 11kg)
You need shorter flywheel bolts as well.
Even with shipping to Aus/USA you end up with a pretty cheap awesome 5.5kg flywheel.

read post #13.....IMO you can use either of the TOBs and both will work. One you use with the "spacer ring" and one you don't. Both still allow the ring gear to engage the starter just fine. YMMV, but those were my findings, IIRC.
I would have used a standard TOB, but since I already had a new 323i one, I just used it.Stage rally/rallycross e30 build/competition journal
