Broken Fuel Injector and/or Fuel Pressure Regulator

I recently bought an '89 E30 Convertible that was taken decent care of as far as maintenance, but I am getting down into the nitty gritty of this car.

FYI, I have hardly driven this car, because it had a severe power steering fluid leak and starting to work on it has led me down a rabbit hole. The car is in pieces basically at this point.

First thing I did was change spark plugs, which I noticed were quite wet. This tipped me off to something going wrong in the fuel department.

Then I started to change the vacuum lines from the throttle body to the brake booster. As soon as I started taking them off, they REEKED of gas. This led to me removing everything including the intake manifold. Now I see that one of the pintle nozzles on the fuel injectors is completely gone.

I was thinking that all of this may be from the FPR, but after discovering that, I'm thinking maybe that's the problem.

My question is: Should I just try rebuilding the injectors and see if that fixes it or should I go ahead and replace the FPR too? I ask because I'd rather not buy a new FPR if it could still be good. Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't replace the fpr unless you connect a fuel gauge to confirm low pressure. Either way it won't cause a leak on the injector side. Pintle caps have been known to disappear and rather than trying to rebuild the injectors there are forum members who will clean and balance them for a very reasonable amount.
