Power Steering Fluid
I know this is a minor issue, but just curious what folks are using for steering fluid. I have been using Dexron II ATF (or compatible) for 20 years in my '92 318i vert. However, while looking through some other manuals, I have seen conflicting fluid recommendations. Appreciate any feedback...thanks!

To be more specific, the cap on my fluid reservoir says CHF 11S, the owner's manual indicates ATF (doesn't specify Dexron), and my maintenance manual indicates ATF Dexron II. Can it get any more confusing?

Thanks, Peter...I think I'll stick with Dexron II as well. Much appreciated!

![]() I should elaborate. I use Pentosin ATF 1. Its compatible with old Dexron fluids. https://www.amazon.com/Pentosin-1058.../dp/B007PCQAR8 I get it way cheaper at my local import parts shop though. |

STP Multi-Purpose ATF is suitable for systems requiring Dexron II or greater, and is much cheaper than Pentosin. I get it at AutoZone, but you can find it almost anywhere.
