Yeah. One Huffpo reporter and one Washington Post reporter were arrested for "trespassing" at McDonalds, later released w/o charge. Other witnesses reported the police fired tear gas at the Al Jazeera America crew, who then fled, leaving their equipment which was subsequently dismantled by a SWAT team.

Who hasn't? The mentality of most police is "us vs. them". The question is how can we support our police (who do a necessary and thankless job) when they view us as the enemy?

I disagree. When the "police" show up in MRAPs with M16s, M4s, LRADs, full camo and god-knows what else military gear, it sends the message that "we're hear to invade/destroy/put down you're little city", not "Hi, we're the police, just here to make sure everything is OK"...

Did a couple kids throw stones? Sure. But that hardly deserves a military-style response.

That goes way beyond "a couple of kids throwing stones." And I'll bet QT won't rebuild in that neighborhood either.


But I'll ask again, how does looting and burning down your own neighborhood solve anything?

But I'll ask again, how does looting and burning down your own neighborhood solve anything?

It doesn't. The issue isn't the existence of some provocateurs who broke the law, but the heavy handed police response to what was largely a peaceful protest.
