    spring compressor.

    anyone have a spring compressor I can borrow? I'd like it for this weekend if possible ;)

    everywhere sucks. they rent them out always, and I can never get them.

    shoot me a pm and we can figure something out.

                I've never had a problem getting a hold of one at shucks. If all else fails just don't use one. If you're careful about not using one and stand out of the way it's all good.

                  I completely disagree. If you are removing an H&R race spring that isn't compressed you would be fine, but removing a stock e30 spring from a stock length strut housing without compressing it will most certainly lead to bodily injury and/or property damage.

                    you can rent them at autozone as well. is you are taking out stock springs dont even think of doing it without a compressor.

                      I was surprised how long mine lasted... at least 20 complete suspension installs... can't beat that for $7.

                        I've taken stock springs off a bunch of times, and never used a spring compressor. It doesn't unload that hard.

                          Me too, I just aimed it at a wall so that caught the nut and it was all good. Just don't be stupid and aim it at your nuts or something and its fine.
