Did I Buy The Wrong Valance?

I just had my 1986 325E completley resparayed and bought a new metal valance to replace the old less than perfect one. Did I get the wrong one? It's been so long since I've seen the front of the car that I don't recall what these large openings are for? Does the "diving board" front bumper cover them up? I know they are not for fogs and air inlets like on my 325iX as the opening is too high.

I'm hoping for good news.

No, you didn't get the wrong one. The bumper covers 90% of the openings.
