    Anthony Bourdain dead at 61

    News Article

Apparent suicide by hanging this morning in France while working on an upcoming episode of "Parts Unknown".

Damn.. too many drunk nights in my college years were inspired by his show to go out and grab some late night munchies with good company. Later motivating me to travel the world and visit the places he frequented.

I guess you can have everything and nothing at the same time - Rest in Peace my dude.

“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

Very sad. Mental illness is a horrendous thing that can too easily slide under the radar.

His show & work was always inspiring to me as well. True class act.

Very sad today because of this. Was a regular at his old NYC restaurant "Les Halles" that was attached to my sisters apartment, saw him live in a stand up he did a couple years ago, was an early watcher of his old shows & read his books. He was the man, the myth, the legend, in my eyes. He portrayed the rest of the world that people wouldn't ordinarily see, and brought it to you.....and always tied back to the fact that food doesn't discriminate. Its prob the ONE thing in our crazy world that unites us all. The food, travel & blog industry lost one of the best narrators of this today. :(

Has anyone noticed that a ton of these celebrity suicides are caused by hanging? Kind of an odd coincidence.

Ironic isn't it? Two music artists really struggling with mental health issues come out with huge albums the same week that two major icons commit suicide? Maybe not ironic, but definitely bizarre.

He was a cool dude that even if you had different views than you he would sit and listen to what you had to say. I liked the way he showed the countries he visited.

Proof that fame and fortune doesnt equal happiness aucks he couldn't shake his demons, he came off as a good man
