LS guys what water pump and rad?

Im starting to put together my 5.3 and im wondering what water pump everyone is running.. i was thinking 2010 camaro l99 pump it has same spacing as the truck pump so no need for spacers, like the f body pump needs. the outlet on the new camaro pump is on drivers side is that a problem? i will not be running a power steering pump so it will be a basic set up just a water pump and alternator... also whats a good rad to run with the ls motors?

Left, L92 truck pump. middle, L99 camaro pump, right, LS2/3/7 from a C6 corvette.... if using the z3m rad would the l99 pump be better set up? should be closer to the rad inlet... or should the hose go up instead then turn around to go to the rad, seems like more work but maybe the l99 comes out and would be to close to the rad?

the L99 camaro pump wont interfere with the intake?

Your pump should match your accessories so the pulleys are all aligned.

from what i found the l99 2010 camaro pump fits under the ls1 intake on the 5.3 and yes it lines up so no need for 3/4" spacers like the old f-body pumps... I'm just wondering if with the hose going straight out if it will be to snug against the rad... it would be much closer to the rad pipe tho since it would be on drivers side... the pulley also is flat so its about 3/8ths farther from the rad vs the spaced out f-body pump and truck pump.

            l99 pump...

You need way more wrap on the crankshaft and waterpump pulleys.

                Edit: Something like this.

The way you have it setup now, the crankshaft will struggle to drive the accessories without slipping.
Just a little project im working on

ya i was thinking that people say it works but would be pushing it. this might be easy and a bit better.

i guess my main concern is how much space between the pump outlet and the big z3 rad... i can make the belt work one way or another...

I will be using the C7 vette pump for my ls1 swap using the z3m mish rad. I was playing with fitment yesterday (using Garrets kit) and the stock ls1 pump with the z3m rad interferes by about 1/16 of an inch. My next issue will be the top port on the rad being close to the power steering pump, but you wont have this issue so count yourself lucky lol.

As for port locations, it looks like if you can use the l99 pump, go for it. Makes it cleaner running the rad hose instead of having it between the pulley and the rad.

Here is the clearance I have with no water pump, use your judgement from the main pulley to the rad as clearance.

Takes a fair bit of horsepower to turn an alternator under load, waterpump too at high speed. The second pic has better wrap around the waterpump, but you should really aim to try and keep a similar amount of wrap as stock to avoid any problems, certainly don't want to run less than half the amount. It's easy to mount another pulley on the head like in the pic I posted.

yaa wont take much to make the belt work. having the outlet on that side must be better then squeezing the hose across between belts and rad.. even with the truck pump the points up instead straight out like the f body pump, it would still have to run past the belt/pulley because the intakes so low it wont have room to go over the pump. I'm going to try and get a 2010 pump Monday when i get my manifold gaskets.

LS2-7 water pump with the snout of the outlet cut off (leaving "short" bead on tube), with 5/16 pump spacers, 2x sets of pump gaskets. All with FBody FEAD (Front End Accessory Drive). Used CTS-V serpentine belt tensioner with a few washers behind it so it would line-up with the rest of the pulleys.

or you could buy something that fits direct and doesn't need all that stuff.
