    FS: complete M20 engine in DC area

    SOLD, pending pickup.

    Come get it... I'll be taking this motor out of my car at the end of February and will offer it as a complete unit for a month before I disassemble and part it. It will be available for pick-up in early March. No sale by April means I part it. I'm swapping a DOHC motor in.

    Bio: This has been a dead-nuts reliable engine that runs strong at 185,000 miles. Never overheated or over-revved. Synthetic oil all of its adult life. Regular, documented service. Only issue is a slight oil seep out of the valve cover gasket. I do not have compression numbers but it has excellent comprehension. 173 ECU with a Conforti clone chip. I am located NE of DC in Maryland... come by and test drive it in the car.

    $450. picked up.

    Assuming this is from the 325is in your avatar right?

    Edit: Is it possibly for you to get compression numbers?

      Yep. Same car and that's the new motor.

      It's actually filthy right now. I've been busy and the short, cold winter days don't motivate me to keep it clean. That, and I've got a new motor in the wings.

      I will actually miss the M20. Been a great motor the 10 years I've had it.

          Do you have service records? What all are you going to leave attached to it?

          I too would be interested in seeing the compression numbers.

          Would you hypothetically be willing to hold it until mid March with a deposit?

            Motor will be complete. No tranny, that will hang off the M50.

            I don't have compression numbers but will be happy to test if someone lends me a tester or stops by. I've kept oil consumption logs and consumption has been steady for years. No suprises here. Mid-March is fine.

              I'm not really sure what normal or "good" (or bad) numbers would be.
