    e21 recaro vs e30 recaro

Hey, guys i'm just wondering is e21 recaro the same as the e30 recaro with only difference being the bracket? or is it actually different seat all together.

if youre referring to the e30 sport seat, they werent made by recaro, they are recardos. but yes, the brackets are different between the seats. the e21 seats are actual recaros and dont have as many seat functions as the sport seat. but IMO are sexier.

Recaros came as option on e21s. They were not offered on e30s. BMW offered their own Sport seats.
But Recaro did offered seats to be installed on e30s, with adapters and sliders. But not thru BMW.

To further add to this, and someone quote me if I am wrong.

YES, BMW did have Recaros for the e30.

NO, they are not found in the US 325iS/318iS/325eS's.

NO, it was not an option for any E30 sold in North America.

As far as I know, it was a rare option in the european market.

Some e30s have Recaros, but installed by their owners.

Here's a nice set for sale. I find them cheap for their rarity. $600usd

Wow... Just some more random info, Recaro actually made seats for the e24/e28 that were different from the sport seats that seem to be equally rare.

Indeed. The e12 M535 and several variations of 6 series (especially the early ones) had Recaros similar to the e21s, but in thick buffalo leather.

Recaro couldn't keep up with BMW's demand for sports seats during the E30 line line, so BMW built their own.

This story tends to seem accurate as E30 factory recaros seem a lot more prevalent in the earlier models.

That's not correct. You could get Recaros as an option in the E30. I've seen several brochures showing them as an available option.

I think Dan Lora (M42Technik) has a copy of the brochure showing it, and his seats are E30-option Recaros.

                              Lee, you're wrong.

BMW offered Recaros installed as an option on some euro e30s. I have them, they didn't come in my e30 stock, but they are option e30 seats. Here's the flyer:
