1989 325i Spec E30 or Track Car – TONS OF PARTS

    Clear Title

    SOLD!!

This is an ideal car for anyone looking for a dedicated track car or Spec E30 race car. The car was built in March of 2008 to then current Spec E30 rules and has seen 10-12 track events and auto-crosses. It has never been raced. Since starting a new business venture the car has been sitting idle. I foresee spending more time on my business in the near future, leaving even less time for the track. The car is a blast to drive, my loss your gain. The car’s last event was an SCCA autocross in May of 2009.

You would have a hard time buying all the parts I have on this car and building it for my listing price. All parts were installed in March 2008 or later. I have a stack of receipts a mile high from Pelican, Harrison, Tuner, and Bimmerworld, but here is what I can remember off the top of my head. :

    Wheels, Brakes, Tires:
    BRAND NEW Toyo RA-1’s 205/50/15
    Hawk HT-10 pads
    Turner brake cooling backing plates
Orange brake ducting hose (not sure of the temp rating)
Steel front valance brake duct adapter plates
Rebuilt calipers – front and rear
    Turner stainless steel brake lines
15x7” Team Dynamics silver Pro Race 1.2 - 15mm offset
All new wheel bearings, snap rings, lock plates, and spindle nuts

New offset poly front control arm bushings
    New tie rods
    New wheel bearings
Suspension Techniques sway bar, mounting reinforcements, and new end links
    H&R Race Springs
    Bilstein Sport Shocks
    K-Mac camber plates
    Sparco strut tower brace

    Rear Suspension:
AKG solid aluminum sub frame bushings
AKG adjustable eccentric poly control arm bushings
Suspension Techniques sway bar and spherical bearing end links
Turner sway bar to chassis reinforcements
Weld in control arm sway bar mounting reinforcements
    H&R Race Springs
    Bilstein Sport Shocks
AKG spherical bearing rear shock mounts

    Transmission and Driveline:
    Ireland trans mounts
Clutch (disk, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing)
    Fork spring and pivot pin
    Slave cylinder
    Master cylinder
    Resurfaced flywheel
    Flywheel bolts
    Clutch bolts
    Bell-housing bolts
Trans seals (front , shifter, and rear)
    Redline Trans Fluid
    Z3 shifter
Shifter bushings (not just the main one, but all linkage bushings)
    Center driveshaft bearing
    Guibo
Rebuilt differential limited slip unit (works VERY well now)
    Redline gear fluid in diff
M Coupe finned diff cover (extra capacity and cooling)
    Delrin diff mount

    Interior and Safety:
8 point weld in roll cage - DOM 1.75 OD X .095 (boxed floor mounts, pop out x door bars, rear down bars go to trunk above sum-frame mounts, and foot protection)
Cobra Suzuka S Kevlar seat with mounts ($900) - Driver
Corbeau passenger seat – one of the cheap ones
G Force 6 point harness with all proper G Force mounts, snap hooks and eye bolts – Driver and passenger
    Momo Mod 69 Steering wheel
Momo shift knob (a little bling never hurt anyone)
LTB weld on steering wheel quick release
Autometer Pro Comp water, oil presser and oil temp gauges
VDO 5” tach with memory recall
VDO LED cage mounted shift light
    Wink mirror
    Center net
    AKG pedal covers
Gutted doors for door bars (lots of elbow room)
Wires are covered in black plastic convoluted tubing
Aluminum floor mats with grip tape (makes it easy to get in and out)

Current Motor - Great for DE’s!:
M20B27 – e motor – This little e motor ran 1:48’s at Road Atlanta. Not bad for being 20hp down from an I motor.
    I intake manifold
    New Parts:
    Timing belt and tensioner
    Water pump
    Distributor cap and rotor
    Plugs
    Valve cover gasket
    Intake boot
    Ireland poly motor mounts

Spare Motor – Spec E30 motor:
    M20B25 - I motor
Came out of a running car and has never been on track. The car ran well on a test drive. The car was used as a donor car because of severe rust.
    Needs oil pan
New Tune up kit in boxes: water pump, timing belt, cap, rotor, plugs, oil filter(s)
New Parts For Head Rebuild (just for peace of mind, not needed):
    Head gasket
    Head bolts
    Rocker arms
    Inner valve springs
    Outer valve springs
    Retainers
    Valve seals

    Other random new parts:
    Crank scraper
    Fuel filter
    Fuel pump
    Radiator
    Hoses

    Random spares:
After 6 e30’s in the past 3 years, I have accumulated everything from interiors to sub-frames. If you need it, I probably have it and will cut you a deal.

What it needs to be Spec E30 Legal:
Exhaust system – currently has an aftermarket exhaust that is not legal
Fire system – I have an extinguisher, but it could use a full system
I motor needs to be installed.
    Roll cage padding
    Window net

    Body:
I lip rear spoiler – not installed
    I lip spoiler
    Sunroof removed

    The Bad:
The car had a quarter panel and front fender repair at some point in its life.
The paint is faded and chipping in some spots

This is definitely not the most beautiful E30 out there, but it is built very well and runs great on the track. You can run this car hard and not be afraid to ruin your $5k paint job.

I took the car for a drive around the neighborhood over the weekend. It runs like a champ.

Just listed it on Racing Junk today. Has anyone had luck selling there before? I have never sold a car there.

I just dropped the price. You couldn't build the car for this price. Hopefully someone can give her a good home :)
