throttle cable install diy / M42

looking for a diy before doing this so I can save time and do it correctly the first time through. Anyone have a detailed diy? thanks

Well, a Haynes manual would tell you to remove the cable, and that installation is reverse of removal.

The truth is that you remove the cable from the TB with some twisting to pass the end retainer through, then disconnect it from the pedal assy. Pull the cable through from the engine bay, and really do the reverse to reinstall.

Yes, you'll figure it out quickly enough.

The hardest part is getting to the plastic clip that is in the firewall. You have to squeeze it with pliers so it compresses and will then fit through the hole. Look at your new cable and it will make more sense.

did you have to break the old one to get it out?

            so, long skinny needle-nose pliers?

Probably, pliers and a screwdriver ought to get the job done.

Quick pop with long flathead screwdriver and rubber mallet breaks old clip for removal. All good and installed. Minimal swearing involved. Def worth the time, and a cheap fix for the broken barrel adjuster
