Just ran the s52 2.5in exhaust, noticing that is pretty close to the CV boot when lifted...granted it will move up when it is lowered.
Too close? Good enough?

For me, that would be too close. The exhaust won't be too terribly hot that far back but It doesn't take melting for the heat to be too much, all it needs to do is cause the rubber to deteriorate and harden. I would wrap that section in header wrap to reduce the amount of radiant heat.

Dunno if you did anything, OP, but you could use a heat shield or wrap the area in header wrap which is cheap and easily found.
However, while you're driving, you'll have heat loss on your exhaust due to convection as the air passes over the surface. It probably wouldn't have enough radiant heat all the way at your CV joint to melt the rubber.
I checked my pipe temp once before and after driving around all day it was only around 150 degrees F. However, if you're tracking your car, then it may be higher.
