3.5" MAF to 3" Throttle Body?

I guess I don't understand why you would have a 3.5" MAF going into a 3" throttle body. If the airflow is bottle necking at the TB then what is the benefit of running a bigger MAF if air flow is being reduced at the TB? Wouldn't you need a big bore TB? And if you would need a big bore TB then you would need to open the Intake Manifold hole also.

I flunked physics so school me please.

You are right, they make little to no power.

I've done more interwebz searching and found some big bore TB like this:

But then what do you do with the manifold? If you enlarge the intake mani does that mean worse low end torque?

I need the optimal intake setup for a stock S52 converted to OBD1. Anyone?

Don't bother with a big throttle body. Just run the MAF your chip is tuned for and go for it.

Crap like this are generally gimmicks. Even CAIs don't really give you anything. Don't waste your money.

          Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

well, I already wasted my money on a 540 MAF and the chip for it. Should have asked this question before I bought all my shit.

Would of been a great idea. But most people here just get the 540 MAF and chip, that's it. I did the same But like mention above, it's just a waste of moneyz

                +1.

I upsized the TB on my motor by 20%, from an M50 one to an M54 one.

                Gained ZERO on the dyno.

This. I probably wouldn't even have gotten my Kamotors kit if my M50 had come with an airbox.

that's like saying getting new rims is a waste of money since they serve the same functionality as stock ones. Just when you drive hard, you may see some gains.

Just like these mods. not for everyday boring drivers. I got my 3.5 at the junkyard for $9...why not.

why is the miller MAF a different story? What does it do that produces actual gains?
