    Help..Name that sensor and purpose

    I have a 325I with a 325e engine. Can you tell me what the 4 sensors are and what is the purpose. The two that is not connected are they even need?
    I know...why in the hell did I put a 325e engine in a 325I. I bought the car with a blown engine for $800. Bought the 325e engine for $150 with 78,000. I was like damn I am on top of the world. Ask me now....It is lonely down beneath a rock.
    I do need help known what the 4 sensors are, their duty and if they are even needed?

        1 - Temp time switch
        2 - Water temp sensor
        3 - Temp switch (A/C fan I think)
        4 - Engine coolant temp sensor.

          Check again. I know number 1 is coolant temp switch.

            1= guage temp switch
            2= motronic temp switch--could be the other way though
            and the other 2 have to do with automatic trans/ and or air cond.

                  1- Coolant temp sensor, used by DME for fuel mixture table lookup, and on Motronic 1.1 idle speed control. On Motronic 1.0, this signal is instead split to the Idle control module for the same purpose.

                  2- Coolant temp sender, for your instrument cluster

                  3- Coolant temp switch, used for cold start valve on Motronic 1.0, provides path to ground for valve (when conditions are met), which is fed 12v when cranking.

                  4- Coolant temp switch, additional input to Idle control module for cold (32degF) starting. Applicable to Motronic 1.0

                    Correct but

                    # 3 is closed below 45c for high idle only (called 45c switch)

                        See that is what I am talking about.. Thanks dude...
                        I have noticed since it has been getting cold that the car takes longer to crank. So this looks to be the problem.
