    California Legacy License Plates

FYI, the California DMV will produce legacy license plates if demand is demonstrated via per-orders. The plates offered are 50s, 60s and 70s color schemes and can be sequential or personalized.

That would be cool, but its the 7500 x $50 by 2015 I hope they get... I have my eyes on a '56 VW oval ragtop the black plates would be perfect... I'm going to start building the 2180cc motor in the summer.

I'd like a blue plate for my next 2002!

          I like your style. I had a '63 square, a '64 notch and a '71 square for (about a week).

I think they are aligning this with the 25 years or older classic car thing. They may offer the 80s plates in three years.

I thought about getting the blue one, close enough time-wise for my E30, but still not quite right. But, how cool would it be to get BMW M PWR?

          I imagine these will be plates will be popular with the 2002, E3, E9, E12, E21, E23, E24, E26 guys.

Dude... I sold the notch for a down payment on a condo. Wrecked the square in highschool.

My buddy's square had a standup motor in it (no engine cover). Loud, gas fumes, exhaust fumes, cheap rubber fuel lines... ah, to be young and stupid again... :D

Neighbor told me this yesterday, how funny. Mentioned also that the letters would be flat and not raised. That sorta sucks.

I didn't even think about the classic year thing. I know some states will let you reuse old plates that you have no matter how old they are.

If you are looking for a 60s and older plate you can also look into year of manufacture plates, those are legal now and are authentic...more expensive yes, but legal now

You're allowed to re-register old plates in Oregon, and all of our current ones SUCK. They're all covered in some lame-ass mural type of picture, and they're all so ugly. I just want to find a basic solid-colored plate with nothing but numbers and letters.

My biggest wish is that they would let you register plates from other countries, and just put the state stickers you live in on them. If they would do that, I would run front and rear euro plates.

If enough people ask for them and if the state is in need of funds I could see that happening
