possible to upgrade m20 TB with M30 TB

    Hey guys,

Last night I saw two coolant lines running to my M20 throttle body (on the track only e30). I was thinking about looping it but I remembered that the m30 throttle body didnt have these lines. I was wondering if the m30 throttle body will bolt straight up to the m20?

    thanks
    Chris

whoooomp whomppppppp.... ok well ill just connect the coolant lines together with a brass fitting and take off that plate.... also has anyone relocated there coolant tank... Mine is on the driver side and i want to make a super sweet air box... if i could move it to the passenger side that would be great

it would be easier probably to move the intake to the passenger side. that's my plan anyway.

And a reason why you'd want to move the intake to the hotside please :p

probably get a more direct and straiter airflow

and proper sheilding would be a must, yes

I mean the filter itself. there's a huge open area behind my passenger headlight, or the crowded area on the drivers side which is also occupied by the radiator outlet and resivior.

but cant you just get an early model coolant tank and put it where the early model ones are?youd have more space.

I could but my ABS and cruise control would still be in the way, and I'm not removing those just for an intake. :p

I tried to make the m30 tb work.... didn't happen. If you swapped to an earlier radiator you could move the coolant tank to the pass side or maybe an m42 radiator?

btw, apparently the temperature that is most likely to form ice in your TB is about 70 degrees. I'm not sure cutting off the TB heater is going to make any difference in intake temps considering how small the surface area is, and your intake manifold likely gets way hotter anyway.

so it wouldn't matter either way... cause your throttle body will be warmed up in a few minutes when your engine starts right?

sure, but the velocity of the air is what cools down the throttle area and causes ice to form, it doesn't matter so much what the intake manifold temp is. If you think about it the two should cancel each other out leaving the throttle body at a normal temp. So by keeping the TB heater you are avoiding the issue of ice formation without sacrificing anything else.
