do a search in the classifieds, i remember seeing some selling 2 different cat cams for a m-20 not that long ago.
since no one else has said it yet i will. there are other mods that will gain you more hp for your $ than just a cam swap. have you added headers yet? jimC chip? panel filter or a cone with a heat shield? bigger injectors? cat back? even a simple GOOD through tune-up to make sure everything is running as good as it can and properly. bigger cams can, and will, make an improvment, but if you do just the cam it can lead to drivabilty problems or just a disappointment in the results. remember that you are trying to get more in the engine with the cam, optimize it with the filter, give it the most gas (bigger injectors) i can proppperly use, let it burn it as best as it can and in the proper amount (jimC chip), and give it the best way out of the engine (headers and cat back, maybe remove the cat if you can get away with it). not trying to be a dick about it, just letting you know if you are new to engine tuning. all of these can be found either on here or ebay usually used and cheaply insted of buying new, do all this with the cam swap and you will be happier.
btw thew bigger the cam you put in it, the hight you move the powerband, and m-20s get real unhappy being wrung out to 7K to make power all the time.

Are you female?
I know exactly what I am looking for, that is why I am asking if anyone out there knows of a schrick cam not a cat-cam cam. I won't be running cats because January first Texas no longer requires it. I am running Borla exhaust 2.5 straight from the header. I have had my e for 10 years and am looking to build the engine my one of my best friends and I planned years ago when we were at Wyotech together before he went to BMW STEP school. I now work with his Hazet tools due to his untimely death and will be building the motor an M20 that was planned. I am using the i head from his last E30 for the top end and the e bottom end from my e. I tried to source some pistons for the job and they just didn't make the grade. So it looks like I will be saving to buy some customs or trying to source another good used set. I had money but I was T-boned in my scoob so now I am scrambling and using my money possibly for just an e motor, wiring harness, and computer for sale. Anywho, I am looking for pistons (Alpina, Racing Dynamics, or Korman would be great and if you ever see them for sale let me know), and a schrick cam. I have a mass air sensor from a 540i and one from a 328is. I want to learn about mapping from anyone willing to give some pointers, and then tune my ride. Then in a few years when my nephew turns sixteen I will give him the bimmer and get ready to build one, with him and his brother, for his brother who is four years his minor.Comment

Second whoever told you that Texas isn't requiring cats anymore is high. It's a Federal requirement, meaning you have to have it. Removing emissions equipment from a street car is a violation of Federal law. You may not have to get your shitpile inspected by the state anymore but it's still illegal to remove emissions devices.
All that aside I don't care if you pull your cat out, but saying that it's no longer required is moronic.sigpicFormer professional wrench thrower.

Hey dick Fuck You! I was discussing my Catalytic converter not cams, seems like you are the moron if you can't understand that. Second do you live in Texas? Do you own a state licensed inspection station? Well my best friend does and has discussed it with the DPS. You are not the only one that works on German cars for a living so don't attack people like you were the engineer that designed the cars, we all have knowledge but most of us don't have to act like we are the all knowing mechanic to feel important. This is a message board to get help and give advice not a forum to be a prick.
You're a moron. First off everyone is talking about Cat Cams which are a brand of cams. It has nothing to do with your catalytic converter.

So you start by talking about looking for a Schrick cam and not a cat cam. Then you launch into a bs run on about not running a cat. Leading me(and anyone else reading your statement) to believe you thought the cat cam was related to your catalytic converter. way to cover your tracks.
Your story is full of holes, anyone who has gone through STEP or Wyotech would know whether or not the parts you posted pictures of were usable. If you knew what you were talking about you'd be embarrassed to make such a post.
You call me an asshole, and you're calling other respected forum members women for suggesting different cams? Hello pot meet the kettle...
Stop throwing out bullshit lies, you're right that it's a forum for helping people but somewhere you missed the part about actually posting useful information. Your arguing over emissions law further proves my point.sigpicFormer professional wrench thrower.

Dude , you need to relax and comprehend what you are reading before you reply .
Sure I'll give you that this guy seems a little bit like a tool .....but his remark about not running cats was in response to Der Affe suggesting that in his post .
Also the bit about asking if Der Affe is a chick is a resonse to his Geerman quote which pretty much states "There is a party in my pants and everyone is invited" .
Oh and OP , I have a new in box Top End reground 272 available for cheap if you think that will work in your temporary build .Comment
