After driving a 3.64 for the last few years, id say anyhing taller than a 3.73 is too tall. The biggest problem I have is the fall off between gears. It was horrible with a stock m42. The Franken motor does much better and I'm guessing its near, but not above, the 180hp mark. I just picked up a 3.73 LSD and look forward to running it. Ideally I think the 3.25 with an e36 g250 will be the best ratio combination. First gear would feel like a g240 with a 3.64 rear end(tall and usable), with the rest similar to a 3.90, if I did my math correctly. You say "Where are your other two cylinders?"
I say "Where's your other camshaft?"
Frankenmotor: if an M42, M44, M20, S50, and S52 were to have a kid.
