I had a mars red mk1 S for a couple of years until some dope crashed into it.
PO had it heavily modded for autocrossing, even had a nice turbo setup, but had horrible torque steer, rubbery shifter feel, and serious turbo lag. Tons of fun!
One of my favorite cars ever, gorgeous with great Recaros.

personally, i think the sorroco has much nicer styling than a rabbit/golf.

if you were to combine that with an awd piss-at drive train, i say....YESSSSSS! turbo charged 16v engine? check!

under no circumstances would i trade a front wheel drive anything for an e30.

pretty much just for the styling. Plus the exclusivity is sorta cool

So the consensus is the VR6 is subservient to a 16v 4 cylinder? Dang I was hoping for some Saab-level quirk.

One of these cars would be fun in addition to the bmw. I've put too much effort in this car just to get rid of it

As a side note, I was at the local pick n pull today chatting with the guy about their inventory, and he's noticed a shift about 5 model years newer lately. Which explains how there was only one e30 but 4 e36s and two e46s. I've never seen an e46 at this yard before.. kids these days

I agree, the styling is far nicer on the "Rocco vs Rabbit/Golf.

Then again, I've seen some VERY nicely done MK1 Rabbit/GTI's on random boards and pics.

I've noticed this in the Bay Area, there used to be E30s aplenty but now there's usually only a few.

                it's a Rabbit underneath.

                        Deleted :(

I always liked the Scirocco as a kid. My dad had a Rabbit, and I'd always check them out when we'd be waiting for service.

The new version is pretty snazzy looking... I'd rock that if we could get it on this side of the pond.

Same car only made in USA vs Germany. I'll take the lower .cd and shorter roofline.

I had a 16v MKII and finding parts for it was nearly impossible. It ran but was far from road-worthy. I owned it for about six months and maybe drove it twice for a grand total of 10 miles, maybe even less. It was originally a PNW car so was virtually rust free. Overall it was a decent starting point for a project for a VW guy yet when I was trying to get rid of it there were almost no takers. I've always loved the styling of those cars, both the 1st and 2nd generations but unfortunately owning one was a huge letdown.
