Apparently the total loss cars are going to be crushed! WTF.... give me their number and I'll drive there tomorrow with a flat bed and pick them up instead of going in the crusher. I'm sure there are useful parts all over them. cough* v8 cough*

Yeah no shit, about the parts. Unfortunately BMW doesn't really care about that, and the liability of total loss vehicles being just given away or sold cheaply by auction is too great. I'd have loved to see some cheap V8's available. There's all sorts of brand new perfect parts on those cars. It's sad.

Instead of being crushed, they should be sent to Tech schools for students to learn to work on and take apart.

Shipping company would eat it I would guess.

I bet there would be some pissed off customers if they repaired the shell and re-sold them.

                            Oops, you'd be right.

It's actually not uncommon to have a total loss but not at a port...ships sink.

It depends, it can be shipping on destination or on leaving port. Companies can do it both ways, whichever way it goes determines who is liable. If its destination then the shipping company is, which it sounds like this is, but sometimes it can be otherwise.
