I went with the bav auto sparkplug wires for my m42. I think they were only a little more and had some lifetime warranty.

Well since I have no direct experience myself I figure I am completely qualified to say that OEM is best.

Go with OEM in my opinion. I'm also ordering a new set of wires and I found that Pelican Parts has the cheapest set of Karlyn-Sti (the OEM brand that BMW used for the m20) wires for about $150. Most other sites I visited had them for about $180.

It might be pricey but I've heard of people having problems with those shorter wires and the problems mysteriously went away when they went back to stock so I'm staying away from them, there's no way you can go wrong with OEM anyway.

by saying bav auto I meant Bavarian Auto Sport. The wires I got were their house brand upgrades.

I know bav auto used to use 8mm which arent as good as IE's 7mm's so if they havent changed it go IE, I've had great experiences and customer service with their stuff, some people don't like him though.

I think you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference, but if the aftermarket ones are marginally more expensive, go ahead and give them a try.

Do the bavauto wires not have the impulse sensor?

Have you checked out magnecore? I'm looking for some too, and that seems to the the best bang for the buck, but again, no impulse sensor...

bavauto plug wires are shit. garbage. junk.

mine broke right out of the box, one of the leads fell off before I even had a chance to put it on the car. A few years later one of the wires broke in half, I was pulling by the boot too not the wire. A couple other guys I know had severe arching from their bavauto wires, out of th ebox. I still have mine, but I cut them up to use with wasted spark coils. Someday I'll buy a decent wire kit and build a fresh set.

I would build your own, you can take the impulse sensor from your old set.

I voted stock, although the only experience I have is with the M42. they are obviously high quality, there really isn't much performance to be gained there unless your wires are already really bad, and they don't have some garish insulator color.
