And today's obscenely overpriced BMW part is...

Part number 51 16 1 904 809-the rear center ashtray used on the E24 and E30. Not the entire rear console section, just the small rear ashtray insert. Showing a BMW list price of $220, with a couple of online vendors showing prices of $186-198.

No, I'm not buying one. No, you shouldn't buy a new one either. The one in my car is slightly cracked and I was just curious as to what they were selling for new instead of paying $20-30 for a used, uncracked one. I have seen some overpriced BMW parts before, but this one has to be one of the worst.

    Carry on.

I bought a new one from the dealer a few years ago along with a bunch of other interior trim, it was $36 iirc.

it's probably just lack of supply. I mean, where exactly do they keep the millions of spare E30 parts that were manufactured 20-25 years ago? if there's 10 left it makes sense to jack up the price so at least you can get a new one if you *really* had to have one.

I'll sell you a great condition one for ummmm....... lets say 115.00 shipped?
J/K but man if you want to offer something for one uncracked I'm sure we could work out a $fair$ price.

I've stocked up 2 or 3 perfect rear ashtrays since I know that one of these days the one in my car will get damaged by rear passengers.

The one in my car is cracked, been meaning to replace it, but I think I'd rather use that money to get a new windshield.

Mine will never be used again. And no rear passangers either.

Yuo shoudl see the size of the BMW warehouse in Mt. olive NJ.

Its part of the international trade zone, and makes a super walmart look like a little tikes playhouse.
