    installed small 318i intake snorkle on 325i with pic..



    well it took a small amount of trimming but it fit very well and to me it way better then the big one that it stock.

            It all looks the same I just swap one snorkle for the other . The snorkel comes off by pulling it and all I did was swap them out. No exterior mod had to be made , just to the clips of the small snorke and put in place.

                It's definitely not an improvement. BMW designed the entire intake, including the length of the velocity stack / trumpet using hemholtz tuning.

                Dumb idea.

                    Wtf... Why would you change the internals of the airbox for a visual improvement when you can't even see it??

                      I got red rocker arms. Every time I go to a show I take my valve cover off.

                          I would think you want turbulent flow into the engine so the air/fuel mixture is better for a better combustion. Why would you want less distorted (laminar) flow?

                            The way I understand it, turbulence is resistance to flow. Sure, if you had a single fuel source far from the combustion chambers, then yes, a turbulent intake tract would help atomize the fuel and help the burn.

                            But with fuel injection, it is not as much as a worry.

                            Velocity stacks are typically used to change where the power is delivered in the RPM range. Thats why many superbikes are running variable length intakes. They change length as RPM's climb to build more power throughout the range of the engine.

                              No.

                              The snorkel directs air through the AFM, where clean neat air is desirable for accurate measurements. The snorkel in no way has any effect whatsoever on the behavior of the air entering the combustion chambers.
