    Does anyone want a touring?

    So I'm in Germanland.
The e30's are 25 years old more or less.
So that means I can ship one from me to you.

Here's what I've learned so far:
average price for a good e30 touring is less than 3k USD.
Shipping is around 2k USD depending on the port.
    I've only seen 320i's and 318i's.
    Lots of manuals.
If they still driven they are usually in great shape, thanks to the German TuV.
Most have roll up windows and standard interior, no AC, and manual sunroofs.

I bought mine for 1300 USD, minimal rust.

So around 5k give or take will get you a touring shipped to the nearest port to you. I'll require a minor finder's fee, I have to feed my addiction like the rest.

    Here is my Touring.

    My facebook is facebook.com/curtis.mabry
    email is Gearheadcurt@hotmail.com

I have a german cell, of course, but I can skype anyone that would like to talk in real time.

The 25 year old rule applies to DOT standards only. If you live in California, you still have to make the car pass CA smog standards and the CA Air Resources Board (CARB) does not like gray market cars in CA, AMHIK. To read more of my story on my experience with CARB when I bought a gray market E12 528i from from out of state and tried to register it in CA, click on this link.

Any car that is 1975 and older is smog exempt in CA. If you are into old school BMW's, you can import and register them with no problems

I've owned three gray market cars when I lived in CA (E3/E12/E28) and I'll never buy another one from out of state (or another country) again. If had had real deep pockets, then it would be another story.

I would rather have hot pokers in the eye than deal with CARB bureaucracy again. Now that I no longer live in CA, the wheels are turning...

this is true, so check in your state before you buy.
I lived in SC, and there you could have a top fuel rail car as a daily. slap on some lights and a horn and you're off to the store.

Tourings are that cheap in Germany? Where do you buy them, mobile.de? Ebay?

I go through very local listings, and scouting around my local area. mobile.de and ebay usually brings the higher priced cars.
I'm basically running through craigslist so to speak.

So would there still be taxes to pay on it when it arrives? Or duty or whatever? If so, anybody know a ballpark figure? Is it based on how much you paid or?

I spoke with a shipping agency and I was told the customs and taxes would be taken care of through them.
It has been a while since I last spoke with them, so I'll probably try to speak with them tomorrow to see what all fee's are expected, and what they take care of.
