Discuss, power steering or no power steering

How many r3v members out there are running either type? I myself have removed the whole power steering setup and put in the aluminum blacking plate for the actual rack and honestly it isn't hard to steer at all without that junk.

chucked the ps steering since I've started driving my e30. only downside is that the rubber guibo fails because of no assist.
i been daily driving it with no issues

i've never driven an e30 with actual "according to hoyle" deleted power steering. however, i used to have a silver 91 ix that had a bad pump when i purchased it. my boy and i drove it all the way from charlotte, nc that way. it will say it pretty much sucked ass.

I remember when my PS decided not to work during a tight corner in an autox, and I've never wanted to experience that feeling again.

On the other hand, if I did, I'd do it right and install a non-assisted Z4 rack.

On an iX though, the steering knuckle doesn't seem to like manual steering and apparently wears out much more quickly, but I can't comment on RWD knuckles.

My buddy rocks his IX with no PS and seems to have no problems at all. I honestly think its more enjoyable to drive and its easier to correct in a slide without PS.

I have a 13.8" Luisi racing wheel and an E36 rack. I tried it without the power steering to see how it was... awful. It was awful. And that is with 195 tyres. Maybe it would be better with the Stock boat wheel, but I am not putting that back on.

Maybe I'm above average but I just don't think its that hard to steer at all and I eventually got used to it.

I bought my E30 from my buddy and the rack had been leaking on him, so he just pulled the belt off. I love it the way it is. No problems driving or parking it.

I drive my Range Rover with 33" tires with no PS.

                    Non-PS e30 is cake.

I hate driving without power steering. It is not hard to turn without it but it is harder than with it. I like the accessories on my car. A/C, power steering, and ABS came with it, so I will keep them for the comfort and convenience.

I say keep it, unless you are racing competitively. You don't need those accessories when racing. And parallel parking without power steering sucks.

I haven't had it for a few years now and I haven't regretted taking it out. However, when I finally do a z3 1.9 rack I will probably refresh it and reinstall it.

I had mine off for a while but got tired of it & out it back on, it makes general daily driving & particular low speed driving a lot easier, imo. I've read that running a proper power steering delete will give better steering feedback, but I'm not driving my e30 at 10/10ths around town, so I don't find much benefit.

no-ps on a stock rack and street tires is easy, even my wife had no issues.
no-ps <200 TW tires, slightly hard but my wife could drive it.
no-ps on a z3 rack with bfg rivals was hell, possibly dangerous.
