            Ryan,

I believe in the BTCC early cars ran the S14 motor while the late models 96+ ran the S42 motors...

So it's a 16V DOHC, correct? Not that I'm dismissing the coolness of the motor, and not knowing all the in-depth specs of both motors, but what's the difference between that an S14? I know that to create that kind of hp, an S14 would have to be built out to a 2.6 and this is a 2.0, but I'm still kind of confused. Is it more stable, or not as high strung?

                            S42 and M42 = 16v

S42 was based on the newer BMW engine architecture (M4X/M5X/M6X), where as the S14 was based on the older M10/M30 architecture.

2.0L S14s made as much power as the 2.0L S42 engines, but S42s were known for a more usable powerband, and a slight increase of torque ... comparatively, at a lower rpm, due to BTCC redline restrictions (8500rpm).

The engine is running motronic? Rumor has it the S42 induction system and engine management system WAS a BMW PN # to homologate over the parts to touring car racing.

I believe you're spot on with that remark. In-house BMW ems was used on this engine.
