I can't help but chuckle about some of the postings here. I truly appreciate everyone's input. Like i said at the beginning this is just a feeler. I really don't have any true desire to sell the car nor do I need money. But she's a garage queen and I thought maybe somebody might be able to enjoy it more so than I. I have two other E30's right now. One of which I drive everyday (91 318is) and Love to death. The only reason I threw out that 8K price was because people were asking and I don't really care to sell anyways. Would I pay 8K for this car? No prob not, but what i did pay a couple years ago wasn't to far off from that number. Thanks again to everyone for their input. And to the guy that PM'd me for $1500 for the car, I considered it but I think i'm gonna have to pass:D

I'd say its worth about 4.5 - 5k (If I had the money and were buying).

It would help to see more pictures of the car, those small ones you posted don't really show us anything.

I would in a heartbeat. M20's a fine engine but would prefer an engine that requires less maintenance and offers far better performance.

Its worth the amount you are willing to sell it for. If 8k is what it would cost to get it from you then that is the worth. The problem is finding someone that is willing to pay that much. If later on down the road you were more interested in selling and would take a lesser amount then that is the current worth. I would say if this car is as clean as stated It would be worth 7k with the swap engine.....to me. Do the swap, then its 8k. Just my opinion.

Right. A car that clean with an S52 swap done as cleanly as the car is, to me, is easily an $11k car.

But then the kiddies who haven't actually done a swap the correct way don't understand how much it really costs to do one.

The kiddies that are complaining about the price dont have the coin to buy the car anyway...

FWIW- I paid 7.5k for my 89 325is 3 years ago and that was with 120k on it. It was the nicest car I could find at the time so to me it was worth every penny. This was shortly after I sold my 89 325i with s50 for 13.5k... Its all about what the seller wants and is willing to pay.

Nice car, good luck with the sale.

stop throwing off the mans thread. all he said is you could do it. thats your option. but in the mean time how about letting the man sell the car. if you dont want it, or are going to talk about irrelevant material, then dont comment. glws.

imo ... none of these e30s sells anyway. No one buys them, people just put up rediculous prices one after another, and then other people that wants to sell thier car sees it and post thier's even higher as if though the car they base off of, was sold... Shrug. 8k... I put my life on it that you will never sell it.ever. more like 4k or 5k at most.

case n point, vlads e30 m3 cabrio rep, and the recent alpine alpina build.

people will ooo wow and cheer you till the finish line, but you wont be getting a single dime, casue quite simply it isnt worth that much.

Like I said, people that are most adament about how much thier car is worth or thier "uncle, or dads" are the ones owning the car, or the ones that talks about it that never spends a dime. Doesnt mean it actually is worth that much, and the later will never pay anything close to that. I'm done screwing up this guys thread, I made a point to give him a value, not start a pissing contest. I say 4k.
You're the only one here pissing around. The rest of us enthusiasts are "cheering" on a higher price of course. Pretty sure we all want the value of our cars to rise after we get our hands on them, no?

Yes, we are in the E30 selling business as well, but what difference does that make? Clean E30's are becoming harder to find. Ones like the OP's SHOULD go for more than 4-5, and the one we just sold (that you dissed on as well) went for what we asked. Hey, i can whip up a list of E30's for sale right now for between 2-4 grand that isn't worth anyones time.

You may realize one day, that in the end, its better for guys like Mtriple and Johnny Cash's dad to buy cleaner, documented, more expensive models instead of getting a 2k and spending 5k getting to the state that they want it in.

Read this quote below, and then read it again.

OP, GLWS. 8k is steep, especially for this forum, but if you have the time to wait it out, the right buyer will find you.

I spent $6k on my 1990 ix with 74k. It was a mint southern car, without a speck of rust. To get more than that, would take a really special car.

The problem with your car is that it is at that point where almost all the rubber has to be replaced (if you haven't already), that adds cost.

So I think you're high on the price, but not by a ton. If you shopped it around to the right places, and assuming the interior and engine were just as nice, I bet you could come close to $7k.

find the right buyer and it will sell. Hell who knows, we will even mention to our local customers. There is very little difference between a 4k mystery car and a 8k super clean stock car with history. Not everyone in the e30 world is unemployed or in high school on an allowance from their parents. For the 35-40 year olds, this was the car that was new when they were in high school and only the rich kids could afford. Now that we are older and have good jobs 5-8k is nothing(all relative I know).

Good luck with the sale, if we come across a local buyer we will let you know.
