wondering about the rear door panels too. It seems like the front panels were recovered. You can see they are not heat sealed on the edge of the M cloth with the vinyl. Instead the edges on the m cloth are folded which is a dead give away of recovered door panels. Seems they left the rear speaker covers with out the M cloth for some reason. Beautiful car non the less and worth the money easy.

The 91' & 92' E30 m-tech's have become the butt of an awful lot of incorrect information - perpetrated by people who continue to pass on wrong information because they read it on the internet, so it can't be wrong!! Like e30rida comment - by the door cards NOT being heat sealed "it's a dead giveaway of recovered door panels". Not bashing you e30rida, just pointing out that you're passing along bad info that you were probably given - yea, we've all done it, myself included.

The panels are not close to the non m-tech plastic heat sealed one piece panels. The 91' M-techs like you see hear ALL come with leather door cards & M-tech cloth inserts & non of them are heat sealed. In fact, if they WERE heat sealed, it's a dead giveaway there not correct for the car.

There are a number of ways that could explain why the back seat door cards are black. One way or the other it can be verified as a REAL M-tech car by getting the build sheet from under the rear bottom cushion or by running the VIN through BMW's system. Either/or will show the option code 771 which is the 91' M-Technic option. I am certain this car is an original M-tech - it's vin is 20#'s off of mine (probably built the same day) & I have the evil twin sister.

I agree with VR4boy, http://www.e30ic.com/M-technic.htm is an excellent site for good information on the 91' & 92' M-tech.

GLWS it is a beautiful car !!

FYI, the sport evo (M3 Evo 3) M Technic door panels ARE heat sealed around the edges. I noticed this as I was getting my door panels reupholstered. I just had them do it the way it was on my M Technic convertible.

Barry, From his reply, I thought he was referring to the heat seal/press similar to the attached photo. I wasn't aware of a heat seal on the door panel parts of the M-Tech & that it could be seen without removing them?

Cactusjacks How come you always think you know everything. Glad you stuck your foot in your mouth this time. All evo M cloth door panels are heat sealed where the M tech cloth meets the vinyl period. I didn't read it on the internet I have original dealer bought sport evo M cloth door panels on my M3 and they are heat sealed. Next time check what's on my garage before you bash my posts which btw it's not the first time you've done it.

                  Actually, you both are right.

Sport Evo M panels (vinyl) are surrounded by heat seal.

Convertible M Technic panels (leather) are not.

You sir are right. If they are leather that's another ballpark. No way of heat sealing it if it's leather.

This post was not intended for a discussion of heat sealed vs. non-heat sealed such and such. I do not know the history of the door panels and interior, but know that it is a genuine M-tech car, with a genuine vin number. I ask that only interested parties respond or contact me regarding the purchase or viewing of this car.

I appreciate all of the GLWS comments and thank you for your kind words.

Car is still for sale and available to be seen in Sacramento, CA.

                          E30rida - that's what I've been saying. Leather=no heat seal, vinyl= heat seal. v

Thanks Barry for clarifying the 2 kinds of door panels with M-Tech cloth.
