1989 325is Alpine White with Rebuilt engine (m20) and $15k invested

    *** SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD***
Mechanic took a spiked bat to my manly bits and confirmed there is oil in the cooling system, but no coolant in oil.
It is either a Head Gasket, or cracked head (cracked head being far less likely)
Car still capable of daily driving, but price dropped in light of the news.

From $4500 down to $3000 - less cost of the work.
    OBO.

You need not swap the engine. You could still have a great runner with the existing internals after a rebuild.

The car is also a perfect swap candidate.
No extra work needed on the chassis (except bushings - see below).

1989 325is Alpine White with Rebuilt engine (m20) and $15k invested
    215k Chassis

30k on Engine and new suspension components
    Automatic Transmission
    Standard Vinyl Interior
Clean Title, Passes Smog and is currently registered.

I have paperwork for over $15,000 in parts and work done to the car in the last 3 years, including the new engine, new driveline, and new parts for nearly everything under the hood.. Nearly the entire suspension was rebuilt with new parts when the engine was installed. And MANY parts were upgraded.

Important Mods and Recent Work (just a very small sample email for more detail):
    Rebuilt engine
Shafts, eccentrics, nuts, bolts, dual springs, retainers, keepers, rocker arms, and valves are all new. Torx head bolts. Magged. Brass freeze plugs. Reconned rods. Polished crank. Main and rod bearings. Rod bolts. Painted red. Reused the pistons. Honed to deglaze. Chrome top, moly second and three piece oil rings. New oil pump and drive shaft. Rotating assembly spin balanced.
    Catcam 264 cam
    4.10 LSD
New Driveline – includes driveshaft, flex disc, and center support bearing (May 09)
    Steel-braided brake lines
    Ansa Exhaust
    AC converted to r134
Vogtland 40/40 lowering springs (installed Oct 08)
Koni Sport Adjustable Shocks (M3 fitment in rear, cuz it’s better – also installed Oct 08)
Of course happy IS items like plastic bumpers, is rear spoiler (sorry missing front lip), and US ellipsoid headlamps (pinstripe removed, some images are from before I did that though)

Asking $4500 OBO – Make reasonable offers please

    Why:
I’m going to be buying a house, and the money will go toward a deposit.

    Overall Condition:
Daily driver status. It’s rock solid.
Suspension arms and bushings are almost entirely new. Everything under the hood is a new part except for the AC which was converted to R134, and the AFM which was refurbished.

I had a 3 page ad describing everything in detail, down to a missing light bulb for the gear selector. But I decided that was just too much detail. Suffice to say, the car is in excellent shape, no rust, no water leaks, no damage, no broken things or other gremlins. I've driven it nearly everyday since I bought it without any issue.

But there are a couple important issues I will explain. Rear subframe mounts are dead, your choice to keep or replace. Engine leaks oil from the oil pan, about 3 drops a month (I don’t fix it because it’s so minor – I don’t have to add oil between changes). Mechanic also quoted me for a radiator flush. The green anti-freeze caused silicate drop out, so it has sludge/gunk that has to be flushed out and replaced with BMW approved fluid. The radio also needs to be installed.

You’ll get a brand new CD43 CD Player radio (BMW Factory unit selling on ebay for $300+), a new Bosch oil filter, a new fram Air filter (I’m lazy right now, ok), with the car.

Please see the photos (I will add close up interior photos shortly)

Tons of pictures on my stream.

            Sigh. OK fine, Bimmerista. youretheman.jpg

I did not notice the "aerial" shot of the car which showed this car to be equipped with comfort seats.

Did you read the part where it says 15k over 3 years which includes mait? thats 5k a year. Not to mention a big chunk of that is a motor rebuild

That's a valid point, so let me clarify. In 09 all I did was the driveline at $1500. The PO put in 13000 worth of new stuff in 07 and 08. I think above I state the driveline was done in 08, but it was actually just last year, I have the paperwork, just my poor recollection. The rest is smaller stuff like fpr, plugs, and a wheel bearing.

                    "New stuff" means things like:
                    Radiator
                    All sensors
                    injectors
                    Water pump
                    Alternator
                    TPS
                    Coil
                    Fasteners
                    Connectors
                    Washer fluid tank
                    Etc
When the engine went back in, nothing was reused. The engine work alone was in the 2k range I think, I will check that and report.

That's where the 15k went. Sure, after I bought it I coulda spent $1500 on bbs wheels, and now I would be saying it "knocks for some reason" but that's not the approach taken with this car. Instead its got a driveline with 5k miles on it, m3 upgrade components in the front suspension, and an engine bay with 30k miles on it. I should also mention the transmission has roughly 110k miles, it came with the engine and didn't need any rebuilding.

Thanks for the interest. Typing from my phone so, I will be getting back to those that pm'd shortly.

Yep, $2300 in work on the block prior to install.

This car is a turn key worry free investment for like 100k miles! Unless you do something stupid (run w/o oil, crash it, etc..)

GL with sale OP. Throw it up on baye30 if you havent already. Theres tons of newbs looking for e30s over there. Although some are only looking for like 2k cars, this is def worth the asking price.

And look guys, this car has 1/2 the miles (maybe even 3x less) the "other guy" was asking like 8500 for.
