What history could it have that's not discernible from a carfax or just looking the car over thoroughly? Prior accidents are easy to spot, and most mechanical things in these cars last forever anyways.

you know, it is obvious the guy is lying about the mileage... the 'autocheck' report says 170k and he says 53k... ok, so that's a lie...

but what if you are local? go look at the damn thing... it is as clean a car north of DC that you'll find based on the pictures... and right now it is at $1700... if everything is there and everything works that is a $2500-$3000 car even with the 170k based on what I'm seeing out there for available cars...

whether the guy is a douche or not should not detract from what the car could actually be...

I'd buy that for $1700. But I would be VERY wary though, and look over EVERYTHING. I absolutely DESPISE sleazy slimy small-time car dealers.
