1980 BMW M1 - VIN: WB559910004301260 We know our M1s. And we know youd have to travel all the way to the BMW Museum in Munich to find one as nice as this. We know, because the M1 in Munich was Bruce Canepas car. BMW hand built just 456 M1s, making it one of their rarest models. Of those, only 399 were built for the street. The rest were destined for racing. Unfortunately, many owners drove their M1s as if they were on the track; they were ridden hard, put away wet, and often didnt receive the TLC these exotic cars required. As a result, very few good M1s are left today. This is the best of them. The car has a bit of a celebrity history. In 1980, an unknown singer from San Antonio suddenly found his career hitched to the tail of a comet. From out of nowhere his first album, self-titled “Christopher Cross,” rocketed to the top of the charts.
