WTB Good DD in MD/DC/VA

So I'm just starting to get into BMW after being with VW for a little while and I'm looking for a nice E30 I can use for DD purposes. I would really not like to spend any more than 2,000 (2,500 at most for for something that just can't be passed up for the price). Keeping in mind my spending limitations I don't expect a 100% perfect car. Mechanical issues are much less a problem than cosmetic ones. Between myself and most of my friends I can do just about anything mechanically but I don't know very much about body work so ideally I want a car thats as solid and rust free as possible. Let me know what you guys got and if you can point me in the right direction that would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I forgot to mention that I'm VERY partial to a 5 speed, Richard. Although a buddy of mine swapped a 5 speed into his 89 325i coupe so I'll ask him how much trouble it was when he did it. Actually that same guy lives in Upper Marlboro so maybe I could have him take a look at it for me. Let me talk to him about it and I will get back to you asap.

i just bought another e30. so i'll be selling my current DD. its a 1987 325es with 210k. i've been driving it back and forth, dc to baltimore to dc, every day. fixing it up on the weekends. i think its starting to come together. it runs well and pulls strong.

it has euroweaves. is valence with perfect hardware. ellipsoids. rewired sound system. map light mirror. short shifter. mtec 1wheel. tan vinyl comfort interior, not perfect, but no rips. only 2 small cracks in the dash. its lowered on kyb shocks and h&r euro sports. it also had a home made strut bar for the front. and the rear strut towers have a welded in bar. if you jack the car up, you can tell they really help quite a bit. tint on the rear window.

its got a few dents here and there. the hood is the most noticeable. its also the most easily replaced. it just got a 4" dent right under the drivers side taillight yesterday. :( im going to try to tap it out today.

there are 2 main problems that i have not addressed yet. (didnt expect to buy another e30 so soon.) sunroof doesnt work. it doesnt get power. i replaced the rails will good ones from a parts car so at the very least it stays in place. which it does. i was planning on welding it in. it doesnt have a headliner due to this.

Lol seeing as how I've only really been into the E30's since very recently I'm sure I've seen you around a lot and just never paid much attention. I'm sure I will see you soon though, now. :)
