    1990 325IX Coupe, 5SP, VA

    11/26 - Sold.

11/9 - I bought a truck and can now sell this 325ix. Offers over $3,000 considered. This truck needs to go, as I do not have a parking space for it with the truck here.

7/23 update - car is available -- I have lowered the price since my son has arrived. First $3,700 takes it... PM me any offers...I paid over $4k a year ago, and put over a $1k into the car, my loss is your gain! Need to sell quickly as we need a larger car for the car seats!

I have had a lot of interest in the car, but many from out of state. I spent the first few months holding the car for various interested buyers without a deposit. Unfortunately, I will not hold the car anymore for any amount of time after having been "stood up" 3 times.

    Original post ----

I am the current owner of this (sweet) IX, but my wife and I are expecting another child this July and we need a car that can fit another car seat with a little more ease. I am 220+ lbs and getting kids into and out of the back seat is a bit tough for me. Good news for us, but bad for the IX.

Since I bought this car from the previous owner (stand-up guy btw) I have had a few items fixed, the most expensive two have been 4 new tires (with less than 10k miles on them), a new fuel pump, and then a few minor items (new power antennae - that needs to be replaced again), along with a few oil changes and a detail (clay / Zaino).

I did repair the odometer since it was "skipping" miles. Had this fixed within 1k miles of buying the car and it was a minor fix (needed only one gear). I am at ~203k miles now.

On the short list of things the car needs is front rotors (mentioned in the above link when it was for sale last as they are still warped, but a-ok otherwise), leaking trunk (only major rust on car is under the battery tray), minor rust around the door locks, under the hood, nothing appears major, the tachometer light is flaky, and some of the dents (cosmetic issues mentioned above) still need to be popped out.

If I were keeping the car, the longer list would include a radiator and cooling system flush (maybe new radiator this summer?), new under hood liner, and a new shift knob. I put aside money each month and plan out when I might want to do routine / preventative maintenance (cooling system seems the next logic place to go).

This thread gives some history on the car. I am listing this at $4,300 (which is less than what I have into the car - paid price and the items I mentioned above (about $1,500)). Put it this way, this price IS what I paid for the car, then I did work to the car. For offers less than that, I'll just keep this as a winter car...willing to have a fair price, but not trying to lose all that much on this car (paying for 6 months of use is one thing, giving it away is another).

    Car is in Leesburg VA.

Some photos...it rained here all weekend so have not had a chance to wash it, or take photos of the inside yet. All photos below are from 4/5/11.

    One dirty engine bay.

    In terms of the issues...

Rust - "spider" cracks around the door locks that look to be showing rust, under the battery tray is the worst of it, definitely will need to be repaired as it is nearly a rust through, driver side under the hood and windshield meet is rusted, on the inside door pillars (front driver side) has surface rust.

Mechanical items not working - I went through the car last week with a prospective buyer and here is what we came up with - power ant needs to be replaced again, the cruise control worked then did not work, then worked again, the heater fan inside the car made a squeal at low RPMs for a few minutes, the tachometer light was off / on, the old school radar detector is a bit annoying but I've never gotten around to disconnecting it, the shift linkage is sloppy / worn -- not a transmission issue just the shifter lever (common on E30s, but it shifts fine for me).

Other cosmetics - The driver seat bolster is pretty worn / has a decent sized rip (the other seats and the rear seat is in surprisingly good condition and I think they are from a 318IS?). There IS a crack in the dash the size of a quarter (top side by tray), definitely a few dents on the outside that need to popped out - one large one on the rear quarter panel, few on the hood and sides you can see one in the above pictures.

Under the hood the hood liner is nearly all gone and the engine could use a good cleaning as you can see above.

I drive the car about 100 miles a day a few times a week and have no issues on the commute or in snow, rain, or in heavy DC traffic. In fact on Sunday I did a 175 mile road trip with no issues.

Edits -- passed emissions and inspection last year in VA with no problems. Good through July of this year...I do think the lower front valance was resprayed white at some point, along with the right rear panel. Other than that, looks to be original paint.

All VIN tags match (doors, hood, trunk, dash).

Full owner history known, have log of receipts.

    Does have upgraded chip...

For a 20+ year old car, with 200k miles it is in solid shape. I bought it with the idea of slowly getting it back in top condition, but have an unexpected change of plans.
