    TURBOCHARGED 1991 M42 318i track/daily SOLD

    SOLD

This is my daily driver that I entended to be a lower cost track car. Had a kid, and took up some new hobbies, so full weekends at the track aren't on my mind anymore. I'm looking at buying a bike (the new hobby) so I need this gone for that to happen. I have put a lot into this car, and it has a nice stance to it, not dangerously low....just mean looking. Here are the specs, and upgrades I have done in the past year or so. This car has also had around a year of driving put on it, so most of the little kinks with a car this modified have all been figured out and corrected. The turbo system is the 9th complete system I have built in the e30 chassis, so i've engineered it with all of the principles I have learned through the years to create an extremely efficient and reliably performing setup.

    Engine and Turbocharger system:

Estimated 250bhp on 7psi of boost as she sits.

-Full Stainless tubular top mount turbo manifold with custom wastegate location for amazing boost control.
-46mm V-band wastegate with 7psi spring (holds boost rock solid at 7psi, no creep whatsoever)
-T3/T4 compressor turbo with 52mm inducer. Full boost at 3800rpm to redline
-CNC billet turbo feed(with restrictor)/drain oil fitting adapters with SS feed line and Earls black braided -12an drain line with block mounted entry for superior oil flow out of the turbo.
-Walbro in-tank High pressure 255lph pump
-Vortech 6:1 Rising rate regulator for boost fueling (has fuel pressure gauge with long fuel lead for monitoring fuel pressure rise under a windshield wiper while driving)
-Innovate LC-1 wideband for monitoring Air Fuel ratios-AFR's(can only monitor with laptop currently, but gauge can be installed for the buyer at the cost of the gauge ~50$)
-3" turbo back exhaust with smooth transition and all V-band contruction for easy dissasembly
-Recirculated wastegate plumbing for a clean look
-Giant 4" inlet K&N filter with 7" overall diameter, and 12" length for huge airflow capability. Full mandrel bent turbo inlet with pipe extending on solid mounts all the way to the Drivers side of the car behind the brake duct for pure cold air.
-Custom vaccum hardlines add a finished look to the plumbing
-high temp tuxedo black wrinkle finish on boost pipes has a nice clean factory look in an already cleaned up engine bay.

    SUSPENSION:
-18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear wheels
-245/35 front dot hoosier tires 285/30/18 bridgestone SO2 tires (have been looking for matching front, but the hoosiers are wearing on the street just fine)
-Front end custom coilovers with 400lb springs and tokico lowering strut inserts
-Fully adjustable camber plates in front
    -rear 500lb lowering springs
-Custom shaved and welded rear control arms to allow 285 tire to fit within stock wheel well.
-Swapped fuel tank from 325i (larger capacity)
-All new fuel injection soft lines from the tank all the way up
    -New fuel filter
-rolled fenders to give a little extra tire clearance. Fronts only rub occasionally when turning full lock, but any down the road driving yeilds no tire rub or clearance issues
    -4.10 LSD differential
    -new front driveshaft guibo

    MISC. MODIFICATIONS

-Short shifter with billet fulcrom point relocator for smooth super short shift engagement.
-UUC big clutch stop pad to eliminate the dead spot at the bottom of the pedal travel
-heavy billet aluminum plain shift knob (feels amazing in the hand, best shift knob i've ever used)
-Custom mounted boost gauge on steering colum (autometer autogage unit) with oil pressure gauge in custom OBC gauge pod panel (for those of you who remember, I used to sell them on e30tech)
-old Cobra racing seat (needs new foam etc) but works for what it is. I planned on getting a new seat, but I figure the next buyer will likely buy something to fit his/her back side properly. I'm only 160lbs, so i fit in anything comfortably.
-NIVOLA leather DSX steering wheel purchased from BMP race. Custom hub adapter and working horn

    -Issues with the car:
-has some rust, but its mostly cosmetic stuff, the underside/control arms, all of the floor pans etc. are nice
-speedo stopped working, and therefore the odo stopped too...probably 195k on the chassis
-gas gauge can be bouncy. I think a new cluster may take care of the gas gauge and the speedo problem, they started acting up around the same time.
-hood release handle broke, have it rigged to open without a problem.
-paint sucks, but that's obviously not why someone is going to buy this car...it's all about the wheels/suspension and turbocharger system....those pieces alone cost way more than I'm asking for the car.
-dash has a few cracks, but overall the interior is in nice condition, with all ash trays, glovebox, and windows, sunroof functional etc.
-no a/c it was all removed for weight reduction, and simplifying the engine bay.

This car is an excellent machine, and definately turns heads with both the sound and stance....and if one so desires, and paintjob would finish it off. I have many more upgrade parts available for making upwards of 350-400hp such as 42# injectors, Megasquirt V3 board, Custom fabricated intercooler setup that is designed as a bolt in unit in this setup with MS sensor ports already welded in etc. PM me for a phone # if you are interested in talking about the car, or if you'd like to make an offer.

    Asking SOLD

Thanks for the comments guys, the car indeed has a very cool stance....it's by no means perfect, but is a great platform for someone with a little time and money to make pretty again. I think it looks tough as-is.....but everyone has their own taste.

As for the 250bhp (hp before any drivetrain losses for newbs)....sounded better than saying the estimated wheel hp which is closer to 215-220hp using a g-tech, and running against a couple buddies with pretty close power ranges. I've built a few cars in the past....so i know what 200-250-300-350-400-etc. feels like in the seat of the pants, and honestly, the m42 power output is very close to the m20 per psi....the motor is surprisingly strong N/A and boosted.

Eric Fahlgren's site has some good resources....but i don't think his calculator is very accurate....nor is the bulk majority of online calculators.....especially ones calculating fuel injector size.
