    MR 325's old car - 1985 BMW E30 325e - M20B25 Engine Swap - Euro Bumpers

I bought this car from Matt a little over a year ago. I simply don't have time to drive it, let alone fix it up, though I did put in a new set of plugs, a new battery, and a brand new radiator.

Heck, when I do drive it, I have too damn much fun and I don't want to go to jail!

Its got a salvage title, the paint is more or less shot, and you won't impress your girlfriend with it, unless she likes to drive like a maniacal, speed-crazed sociopath. ;)

It starts, it drives, it goes like a bat out of hell, what more do you want?

I won't make any assertion as to how many miles the car has on it, the odometer says 230K, but that came from another car, the engine according to Matt had ~120K, the rest of the car, who knows?

    1985 BMW E30 325e - M20B25 Engine
    Swap - Euro Bumpers

    1990 M20B25 engine / Getrag 260
    Late model cooling system
    Factory oil cooler
No p/s, no a/c, no cruise NO RADIO
    3.73 LSD differential
    IE subframe/trailing arm bushings
SS front brake lines, cross drilled front rotors
    E30 M3 springs
    Rebuilt drive axles
    New control arms/tie rods
    New clutch/throwout bearing/pilot bearing
    E30 M3 control arm bushings
    Euro bumpers/valance
    13 button OBC
    Late model gray sport interior
    Black map pockets & handles
    325eS trunk and wing
    Euro plate filler
    Body color mirrors
    M-Tech steering wheel
    Premium sound rear speakers
    20% window tint
    New battery
    Brand-spanking-new radiator

The only real "issue" is it does have a little drivetrain vibration around 50-60 but it's nothing
major. Probably just a worn U-joint. Most of the time I don't even notice it. And, a minor exhaust leak at the head pipe.

Someone (Matt???) rattle-canned the chrome around the windows black. It started chipping off, I would have preferred the chrome, no wait- painting over chrome is a SIN. So, chipping the paint off of the chrome with a wooden stick is an ongoing project.

If you've seen this car in the past, Matt had window tint on the front windows, I pulled that off. One less thing to get a ticket for when you get pulled over for speeding.

Salvage title. Up-to-date registration, I'll smog it. Pictures are from 7/22/11. More pix here:

I need to get $2300 for it.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Jason, sorry to see this car go. It's not pretty but it drives great and is a lot of fun! I loved this car.

Throw a cheapo paint job on it and you've got an awesome E30 with ALL of the maintnance already done.

This shouldn't last long. Sorry you have to let it go, but it'll get a good home.

Edited the listing, forgot to mention the minor exhaust leak at the head pipe. See, its THAT insignificant. ;) With no AC, you gotta drive with the windows open anyway.

                Thanks,
                Jason

Rumor has it those things are worth some cash, like how much? They sure look a heck of a lot better than what would be on a bone-stock US car.

$2300 for the bumpers, I'll throw in a handy transport mechanism for free since I'm such a swell guy. I gotta open the floodgates to the world of craigslist losers this weekend! Oh wait, thats how I found it...

Wish i could buy it back. It'll sell quickly I'm sure.

Not entirely, but Matt had replaced the guibo, so it isn't that. One can recognize a worn U-joint after experiencing a few.

In my dumber years of youth, I let a U-joint go really, really, really bad in a nissan pickup. This was caused by not marking which way a 2-piece driveshaft came apart during a transmission swap. So it went back together out of balance, which caused insanely accelerated wear. I mean, this thing was ready to fly apart. The yoke on the transmission side had to be replaced, it was that chewed up.

If on a scale of one to ten, that nissan was a TWELVE, this e30 is a one and a quarter.
