I talked to a person, over the summer, in NH selling a Saab 99, predecessor to the 900. I can see if he still has it if you are willing to travel or ship a car. From what I recall it was in decent condition and his asking price was reasonable.

99's are super duper cool but I plan on seriously driving this thing so I got to pass on something that old.

99's have really solid bodies but their gearboxes and water pumps SUCK.

When I first looked at the title of this post I thought to myself "wow Saabs are such gay cars" and right after I clicked on the title and saw the first two pics of the 900's and I thought to myself "I want one of these!"
I love how the ignition is in the middle of the car so it locks the tranny for security purposes. Really cool cars. I don't know if your familiar with the show "Wheeler Dealers" but they redid a Saab 900 and it was pretty cool. You should check it out.

The Saab 900 parts swap into the Saab 99 pretty easily. Sound familar?

The ones through the 90's are pretty gay

To anyone who's owned one. How quiet and smooth is the ride? I've driven 3, 2 were verts and the coupe's suspension was shot to shit and weather stripping was finished.

I would really love to drive a pristine 900 turbo coupe if anyone has one locally.

I have owned both a 1985 Saab 900 and and 1996 Saab 900SE (Turbo). I loved both of them. The engine and tranny in the 900SE but the solid feeling body of the 900. The Viggen was an amazing GM product in my opinion. The SPG... Sex.

The one thing that stops me from liking these cars is that 90 degree windshield.

I have or have had in my possession at one time most of the rare c900 accessories/parts.

A cool one is the fuel rail cover:

Nothin special, right? Just a black block of plastic that covers the fuel rail and the injectors...

Except, two different service bulletins instructed technicians to THROW AWAY THE COVER when servicing the cars. This OEM saab part which once came standard on every 900 in 1985-86 is now near unobtanium.

I had two at one point, I sold one for $$$ a few years ago.

The Tally SPGs are very cool. I'm nitpicking here, but there were more than 40 made in that color total, but only 40 were made for the 1991 model year.

A '91 talladega red spg is a rare bird... but it should have the SPG wheels and I'd be concerned about the "intercooler modifications" which I assume means he's got a FMIC installed. Also no mileage listing?

This car won't fetch more than $5-6k imho.

5k sounds excellent. I would buy in a heartbeat. I definitely want a red one too, since my other two cars are sliver and black. I can't let can't let this budget get out of hand like my TJ and E30 budgets did last year so 10.5k is out of the question.

I assuming it has a bigger intercooler so there's no A/C condenser?
                              Are all SPG's manual?

I just called this guy. The car is using the condenser as an intercooler, which I don't like I'd prefer the a/c. Also I think this guy is come kind of Saab dealer/flipper when I called and asked about the 900. His response was "yeah I'm looking for a 900 which one was it" but we'll see. He's emailing me pics. Its got 134k. How do I begin to get him to take half his asking price though?
