THanks for the advice, I will look into them if I decide to ship. Half the reason I am doing this is so I can drive up and down CA and then across the country. I have ALWAYS wanted to do this so now I'm getting my chance. If I have a major break down and have to get the car shipped I will definitely look into Intercity. How much was it to ship the car?

    1) Lots of folks come here saying they want an M3... You have several M3 owners in this thread asking what the budget is because... And I feel like I speak for all of us, there is a number in every one of our heads that we just won't go lower than, should we sell our cars. And if someone said they're looking for $10,000-$13,000 that's not enough for many of us. Soooo- asking for a budget isn't too far fetched or rude.

    2) Noob isn't necessarily derogatory. And even if you feel it is, get over it. This is the Internet, and this is R3v and you'll hear a lot worse.

    3) This isn't the place to discuss E30 M3's. As discussed, go to s14.net. The site is dedicated to the M3 and, it's a more adult atmosphere. But if you go there and start whining there too you won't learn much.

And again, congrats on the new car.
I hear ya. Now worries, I don't care about being called a n00b because as an e30 owner, I am one! Ive owned and do business with the e90 and e80 series and I think "god this guy is a n00b" all the time. So no worries, flame away because its part of the learning process. My buddy FixedSix doesn't like the term but that doesn't have anything to do with me.

My budget was pretty wide, I sold my e92 for 30K and I wanted to buy an e30 M3 and have enough left over to supplement my income for the next year if i should move into a more expensive place/ have higher monthly bills. The one I found was a great price and had just the right amount of work needed. Not too much where id be drowning but enough so the price stayed fair. Luckily the guy I'm dealing with sounds like a stand up guy and he has walked me through the car and its various little problems. Thankfully the car has no mechanical issues and he has records for the last 70k miles. Thats why I feel confident enough to drive it cross country.

I know this isn't the place to talk about m3's but since I saw a few owners, I figured id post. Maybe someone knew someone who was selling one. You never know

Here is a pic of the car I'm picking up in about two weeks. Thanks for the comment guys and please don't be afraid to call me a n00b, its what I am ;)

I just realized that the doors are different on the M3 compared to a normal E30. Is there a thread on all the differences between the E30 and E30 M3? I want to learn more about this cars. I remember in 1995 my friend picked up a 1988 m3, I think he paid like $16,000. Things worth the same now with 3 times as many miles.

M3 doors are not different. See s14.net, there is a thread there on general questions.

Actually M3 are different. Although its a slight difference.
There is no groove/indentation/ or holes to mount the regular e30 side moulding.
You can run regular non-M doors on a M3 but you'd have to fill the area to make it look right.
