I havent bought or sold an e30 in a few years and it certainly looks like prices have gone up. I tend to think that modded cars are worth the sum of their parts and labor time/money is just a loss.
So here is the skinny on my car.
- 1991 318iS, 2-door, skin-top, Alpine White, tan sport interior
- Stock S52 swap (approx. 100k miles from an automatic), BMC intake, stock S52 exhaust manifold in to single 3" exhaust, custom tune, 225HP to the wheels
- Wahlbro LP55 fuel pump
- Innovate LC-1 Wide Band O2 sensor with G3 gauge
- Spahl electric fan with new radiator
- Getrag 260 trans w/ JB Racing Flywheel, Clutchmasters Stage 4 clutch, e36 M3 shifter
- Fresh driveshaft, rebuilt and balanced
- 3.73 LSD in perfect condition
- Freshly rebooted and regreased axles
- Ground control spring set up(I forget the rates, but they are stiff - track ready)
- ST Sway bars with modded links up front and welded mounts in rear
- e36 325i Steering rack (same ratio as e30 M3)
- RX7/Corrado front brakes, Porterfield R4S all around, Crown Performance steel brake lines all around, and custom made 3" air ducting kit to front brakes and e30 M3 master cylinder with e21 booster (best brake feel I have ever had in a car)
- iX wheels with H&R 20mm Spacers
- air bag removed, replaced with M3 wheel
- Alpine Stereo with 15" pioneer sub and ads speakers (nothing fancy, but it sounds amazing!) The entire car has been dynomatted by the previous owner. He sorta went overboard with the stuff.
- Autopower 4-point rear half roll cage with rear seat modded to fit back in the car
- Anchors in place for 5 point harness
And now the bad stuff... (if it isnt listed here, its stock and works as it should)
- Cosmetically speaking, the car is no show car. From 10 ft away with a fresh wax, it looks amazing. I banged up the front a bit and had to replace a fender, bumper, and hood. the whole front third of the car was painted, so it doesnt match perfectly. But again, from 10 ft. away nobody would ever notice.
- The engine bay looks sloppy. I repainted it with a paint that wasnt glossy enough to fend off the dirt and grease, so again, when you open the hood, its not a show car.
- The drivers seat has developed cracks in the vinyl in the usually spots, but it hasnt gone through the inner material yet.
- Small chip in the windshield on pass. side. Been there forever, so I dont see it getting worse.
- The OBC has been removed in favor of using that spot for the AFR gauge. I still have the OBC and the wiring is in tact.
- The passenger side seat belt doesnt work, so there is a 4-point harness in there. The roll bar has to be removed in order to replace it, so I never bothered.
This car is a daily driver but was built with every intent of putting it on the race track and making it stick to the mountain roads. However, I have only had it on the track once (and that was not on this motor) because I ended up building a dedicated track car and I always just take that out instead. I will likely take it out one more time before I sell it.
I will be ready to sell in May or June.
I figure it is worth at least $10,000
What do you guys think? I know, I know, you wanna see pics. I don't have any at the moment, so use your imagination :)
