I've seen them out there, they just seem to come from Cali or over seas and that's a bit far from me. Come on people someone shoot me an offer

Do it^. The problem with underpriced cars is 20 people will wait in line to buy it. Offer him or anyone else well above what they are asking to cut right to the front of the line. It may cost you more but it will still be a steal. it works for me all the time as everyone else is too stingy.

I would but the car in the link above was sold over a year ago, I just came across it while searching google. Thank you for your advice though.

Here is what I will say about finding a budget E30:

Do not look anywhere that there is any car knowledge at all.

Do not use R3V, 'tech, BF.c, you are wasting your time.

Instead, look for beaters in the local papers, on side streets whatever and go knock on doors.

Finding a good deal is not just luck, it is having a pile of cash ready and looking for that deal, having the bravery to knock on that door and ask.

Good luck, bud. When I got into these cars there were zillions for $300, $400...hell, I got a decent late project for $500 with a nice manual trans...these days, there are fewer deals and you have to go hunt for them.

              GL and welcome to R3V.

Go get your car, its out there!

Thank you, I saw that one right after it was posted and I still don't have a response. Do you think I am capable of re doing the head on an e30? And also how did you know it was a seta, was it because it just says "325" with no letters?

Youd have to have the machine shop take a look at the head. Its a SETA because its an 88 325e, i was also interested in that one with no reply.

Thanks, I didn't know if the 325 badge with no letters meant something different.

depending on year: 88 is the only year for SETA, all other "325" is just an ETA

I was looking for a similar "$1,000 E30" myself very recently. See this this thread:

In the end, I waited too long on the 325e and it got sold to someone else, and then I decided that I wanted to find am E30 that was lower mileage and had less body rust than the 325is.

I know that Banff, Alberta, Canada is nowhere near where you are in Charlotte, North Carolina, but I would say the 325is in the thread above is well worth it. I can attest to the fact that a "$1,000 E30" can still be a great car, as others have said in this thread. I test drove the 325is in heavy snow (with snow tires on) and it drove like a champ. I drove it a second time recently on bare/dry twisty mountain roads with switchbacks and it was a blast to drive. Sure, the car isn't pretty with all the rust and stuff, but mechanically it was very solid.

                              Good luck with your search!
Still lookin' for my first E30..... Oh well, not anymore.
