So, only serious buyers get the years of documentation? I guess a half-hearted purchaser is left guessing on the car's maintenance history.

serious buyer will want the documentation for a serious price. it's not a crack pipe price depending on mileage. it may not sell for 14k, but possibly 12.5k or 13k if it has less than a 100k miles.

                    1988 325is M20 E30 Original Owner - $14000 (Plano)
I have a Classic 1988 325is BMW coupe for sale. I'm the original owner. Car has no rust. No accident history. Car has tons of new parts added with years of documentation for serious buyer.

Will sell as is for $14,000.00 with complete new paint job, Engine is rebuilt no mileage M20B25 swap with S-52 crank, pistons 86.5mm and 135mm rods. Head is total rebuild. All done by professional machine shop

Hmmm. Don't you think for 14K it wouldn't need a rebuild and repaint?

Read it again. It has already been repainted, and it has a built/stroked M20. If the repaint was done correctly, the rest is mint, and it's running a custom tune/megasquirt it might have cost $20k+ to build it. Not unreasonable.
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

I read it again, I see nothing about custom tune/megasquirt. (Insert rant about adverts for $14K cars that don't even begin to justify the price). When you list a car for $14,000 and fail to put in the effort to justify the price, I wonder how much effort you put into the car itself.

What I was trying to say was something to the effect of "a car is only original once". A one owner car is nice, but with a repaint and rebuild, not as nice as a low mileage survivor. It's clear that the car has been repainted and the engine rebuilt, but that advert leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

Save yourself $1000 dollars and buy this one:

Better car, better advertisement. That's how you list an E30 in that price range.
