Just to refresh what I'm trying to buy...

Hi all. I'd like to purchase a 1991 318is or a 1989-1990 325is w/ 5-speed. Within 6 hours drive from the DC metro area. Stock engine that'll pass emissions test. Suspension upgrades not necessary, but are a plus. Prefer any color other than black, bronzit, or bright red. If a 318is, prefer the cloth interior, but I can be flexible. Non-smoker (wife has asthma).

No projects, please. I'm looking for a fairly clean, no rust car that will be used as a weekend toy. Not a perfect garage queen/show car. Cash buyer, $4k - $8.5k car. Will pay market value, depending on its condition/service history. PM me if you have a car that might fit what I'm looking for. Thanks.

It looks like I just missed out on one in the mid-Atlantic area. That's the 3rd time it's happened to me. Timing is everything. LOL. :(

Have you seen mine? It will be exempt from emissions in January.
It would make an awesome weekend toy.

Thanks for suggesting it. It would have to pass biannual emissions here and when I eventually move back to SoCal.

I scored a nice 1989 325i coupe manual. I only paid $1850, that's because I called the seller as soon as he posted on the craigslist, timing is everything. Before this I saw 1991 318is in very nice condition and it did not last two days on the craigslist and seller wanted 2500.
So far this year any time I saw a 1989-1991 E30 coupe it was gone fast regardless of the condition.

Too bad you are not in the SF Bay Area - I've toyed with the idea of selling mine. It's in excellent condition and exactly what you are after (minus cloth). I guess timing AND location are important ;-)

Have you tried autotempest? It's a pretty handy way to search craigslist. It's how I found my own 318is.

Saw this and thought of you:

It's red, though, and seller has not responded
