    1991 Alpine 325i - S52/ZF Swapped

    Hi guys.

This is very painful for me to post, but I believe that it may be time to list my baby for sale. The ONLY reason I'm listing it is because something has popped up that I'd love to buy. I would love nothing more than to keep this, but realistically it just can't happen.

    Bad:
-The car has rust. I’m not entirely certain how much, but it’s a fair amount. Bottom of driver’s door, rear valence, battery tray, rear valence, etc
    - Will need starter soon - Car will start, but sometimes it takes turning the key 4 or 5 times while you listen to the starter just spin. Very strange though, you will go for 2 weeks without an issue, then all of a sudden it will do it again.
    - Clunk in front suspension. I believe the camber plates are to blame
    - Oil drip from front timing cover/oil pan gasket. I planed to address that this winter when I finished putting my daily E36 318 back together.
    - 2 small cracks in dash
    - Usual E30 glovebox problems

I purchased the S52 in April from Metric Mechanic. I discovered later that this engine was pulled from a wrecked E30 that they had rebuilt a couple years before, but hadn't really been driven much. After the car was wrecked, I'm under the impression that it again sat for a year before I picked it up. When I purchased the engine, I did all gaskets minus the head gasket, just to ensure it was good to go. I will try and dig up the pictures of the cylinder head when I pulled the valve cover - it looked brand new. This engine has never let me down and it pulls very hard. I built this car to do hoonigan things and that's what I've done. I won't like to you and tell you it's been babied, because anybody with an S52 car who says that would be lying. I take care of my cars and make sure all maintenance is up to date. It's seen 1 autocross other than the general driving that I do on a daily basis.

The wheels pictured are not included. The car will come with bottlecaps. I will try and think of everything I can think of as time goes on. I'll keep this thread as updated as possible as I know I'm forgetting things. I will also attempt to dig up any receipts I may have. I should have most everything in my email, but not 100% sure.

I really cannot explain how much I love this car. It's been a crazy 3 years since I bought it. It's now turned into a very reliable, very fast and fun daily driver, hoonigan machine. I had it on the dyno a couple weeks ago and it made 231hp/225lbft.

I'm asking $6,000. I'd prefer a local sale, but will ship if the buyer arranges it. I feel as though my price is very fair with all things considered. I don't have to sell it, but as I said, there is another project that I'd love to jump on. I'll work on getting more detailed pictures of the car up as soon as we have a decent day outside.

    Thanks

All PMs replied. This week when it's not raining, I'll get some better photos of all areas of the car.

            All PMs replied again.

Added some additional pictures from my photobucket. Still raining like crazy outside so it's useless to attempt to take more pics.

I'll be tidy-ing a few things up this week and hopefully this weekend I can get some more pictures up. I also added some videos so you can see how it runs.

The only condition on selling it is that I have first right of refusal from the buyer if they ever decide to sell. I'm going to miss this car.

Nice ride, sir! You should easily get your asking price if it isn't falling apart with rust. GLWS

                Thanks!

The only real rust that I know of is at the bottom of the doors and the rear valence. The rear valence is a little mangled because the previous owner ran over one of the cement parking lot pilons and ripped the exhaust off. I will include pics of all of this, but you can see how the rear end looks in my photo on the dyno.

Not a problem. Looks like it was a great car at a fair price.
